Growing a Stronger Community

Giving hope and providing independence.

CEAP, Community Emergency Assistance Programs, was founded in 1970 as a food shelf responding to the growing need for human services in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. CEAP now serves Northwest Hennepin and Anoka Counties.

Today, CEAP’s Family Services department not only provides food support but includes resource referrals so families can connect with partner agencies and services that may be able to help.

In 1971, CEAP’s food shelf distributed 20,000 pounds of food to local families in need. By 2014, that number reached more than 1,300,000 pounds! Through our successful Family Service department, we help thousands of men, women, and children get back on their feet every year. Our food and financial assistance gives families hope. Our additional programs give them independence.

We are not alone in in giving hope and independence.  Check out the Minnesota Hunger Initiative. The Minnesota Hunger Initiative is a group of leaders with a common mission: to increase the effectiveness of the hunger relief system throughout MN through collaboration. All of our Minnesota Hunger Initiative Partners work hard each day to reduce and end hunger in MN, with generous help from many engaged individuals.
