Volunteer Spotlight – Eunice Sweeney
Spring Into Action like Eunice!
Eunice Sweeney joined the CEAP family almost 8 years ago when a dear friend asked her to start volunteering out in the community together. Upon her friend’s recommendation, they both started volunteering in the Turning Leaf Thrift Store at CEAP. Spending over 1,300 hours in the last 8 years, Eunice has met a lot of people and continues to volunteer her time because of all the wonderful neighbors that she gets to help.
‘They remember you and you remember them.” Eunice has become an institution in the thrift store and gets to build relationships with community members everyday. Throughout the last several years, Eunice has had to deal with some health issues and has appreciated how accommodating the volunteer program has been for her to be able to still be a part of CEAP.
“When you’re blessed, you need to become a blessing to others.” She has always felt that she has more than she needs and asks herself, what can I give?
For Eunice, its her time at the Turning Leaf Thrift Store that has offered her a connection to the community and has given so many neighbors the help that they need.
Her dear friend has since passed, however, Eunice still shows up twice a week. “I really think that she would want me to keep coming to CEAP.” Eunice has fond memories of her friend and continues to deepen her relationships with other volunteers every week.
Thank you, Eunice!
We couldn’t do what we do without you!
