Throughout the month of September, we'll be sharing program statistics, fun facts
and heartwarming stories of our Meals on Wheels program!
What Is MOW?
CEAP’s Meals on Wheels program (MOW) provides hot, nutritious, lunch-time meals for seniors and for individuals who are not able to prepare meals or leave their homes. For some, Meals on Wheels is a temporary solution while they recuperate from illness or surgery. For others, it provides a long-term opportunity to maintain independence. Participants contribute financially per meal, and subsidy funds are available for those in financial need.
Participants may choose from four entrée types:
• Soft Foods
• Culturally Appropriate
All meals are planned by a nutritionist, prepared by professional chefs, and provide one-third of adult’s Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). Meals are delivered by volunteers, and arrive between 11:30am and 12:30pm.
CEAP’s Meals on Wheels Program serves approximately 275 seniors each week throughout all of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, and the north Camden neighborhood of Minneapolis. The program is offered by CEAP because of the support of the Metropolitan Area Agency on
Aging (MAAA) under the Older Americans Act.
If you live in our service area and would like to enroll, or have any questions about the program, please call Rachel, our Meals on Wheels Coordinator at 763-450-3678 to get started.
If you are interested in the Meals on Wheels program but live outside of CEAP’s service area, please call Metro Meals on Wheels at 612.789.5007 or visit their website, and they will direct you to the local program in your area.
Over 600 meals are delivered each week by volunteers. Interested in helping to prepare meals or delivering them as a volunteer? Complete a volunteer application, or contact our Volunteer Manager at 763-450-3679 to sign up! Weekly, monthly, and on-call opportunities are available!
