Anoka CAN Delivers

Anoka CAN (Connect and Nourish) is a consortium of the food shelves in Anoka County and emerged out of the mutual desire to collaborate and promote lasting improvements to the welfare of our community through food and resources.

Anoka CAN was recently awarded a grant from Hunger Solutions to provide a food delivery program throughout Anoka County. The Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC), CEAP, North Anoka County Emergency Foodshelf (NACE) & Southern Anoka Community Assistance, (SACA) have been chosen to pilot the new program, Anoka CAN Deliver.

The program provides food and resources to homebound seniors, and works to develop long-term relationships so seniors needs and wants are met and can be meaningfully active in our community. The program plans to begin by serving homebound seniors 62 and over, who meet specific income guidelines.

Anoka CAN plans to recruit and train volunteer drivers and open up this mobile opportunity throughout Anoka County. The new drivers will deliver food boxes, but they will also be asked to build relationships, provide safety checks, and bring community to our homebound neighbors through their monthly visits. Drivers will be asked to serve between 1 – 3 clients. To learn more about this program please contact the Anoka CAN Deliver Coordinator at CEAP at 763-783-4942.
